Women Photojournalists - Trials and Triumphs

Image
The women photojournalist that I have chosen today is Ami Vitale who is a Nikon Ambassador and National Geographic photographer, writer, speaker, and documentary filmmaker. I have chosen her because I have had an interest in National Geographic since I was little. Photo by: Bryan Liscinsky Date: 2018 image source: link      Ami V itale was born on August 29, 1971, in Florida, USA. Ami Vitale has a remarkable affinity for life-changing events, Ami Vitale was a self-described shy, gawky child who possessed little confidence. The assessment of the grade school teacher told her that she was not very good at English stuck with her for years and though Ami Vitale was not very good at English she almost perfected the SAT math score and thought of becoming an engineer when she was younger. Ami Vitale attended high school outside Washington, D.C. Where she discovered photography at the age of 14. Using a Pentax K1000 borrowed from school she learned to talk to peopl...

Artist and AI

Image
To start this blog is about my opinions and this can be a sensitive topic for others, I have no intention of hurting or offending anyone from this blog. I want to voice my opinion on art in general and AI.      AI is a topic that a lot of artists are talking about. Not only digital artists but others are concerned about their job in the art fields that involve putting work online, digital artist or photographer is at risk of getting replaced by AI the photo that artist can produce AI can also do the same with their intelligence and the data they have based on the internet. but one thing that I think AI can't do is create its own ideas, I know that AI can generate any picture that you want by typing in the keywords of the picture you want to be and describing it as simple and detailed at the same time to get the picture you want, but all AI is doing is bringing a lot of data of pictures on the same keywords that you want and mixed them together which ca...

Working in the Digital Age

Image
after researching how the technology of cameras evolved to how it is now, I am more appreciative of the technology I have today because some of the processes back then sound like a pain to me, for example staying still for eight minutes for a picture or even remember the chemicals for my picture to develop properly. There are many digital photographic technologies and processes for example : early crud digital cameras, quality less than film fully featured digital cameras, called DSLRS, quality rivals film  transmitting via cell phone and laptop satellite phones wireless transmitters hybrid still / video cameras DSLRs new digital marketplace wifi enabled DSLRs     O ne of the processes that probably saved my college life was transmitting via cell phone and laptop. Many classes require me to take a picture or video on my phone and transfer my data to my laptop. In this class for example I need pictures that I have taken on my phone to be on my blog post...

Is Photojournalism Art?

Image
I s photojournalism art ? is a question a lot of people wonder. I think that photojournalism is art because art comes in different forms and different types of art and I think that photojournalism is a part of art because to take a picture that tells so many words and a story in one picture you need to know the composition of the picture and you have to have the creativity to bring that story to live using one picture and I think that the from art. in photojournalism they are principle like :  the subject expression quality of light rule of thirds obvious main subject the composition of the picture (how cluttered the picture is) contrast appropriate use of shadows background compliments use of lines depth of field exposure what feeling does this image create does the image remind you of any work of art or photography have you seen? is the image black and white or color? These are examples of photos that follow the principle of photojournalism from different tim...

Pre-Digital Photographic Technology

Photo by: Keith Dotson Image source:  https://keithdotson.com/products/downtown-nashville-seen-from-the-pedestrian-bridge-shot-on-35mm-film-000018350030           Before the invention of photography, there were several methods and technologies used to take or create images, these techniques that were used before the technology invented: photogravure, cry palate collodion, rotogravure, black and white roll film, twin lens reflex cameras, Leica 35mm cameras, 35mm color film, 35mm SLR cameras, interchangeable lens for 35mm SLR cameras, 35mm SLR cameras with motor drives. but today I will be writing a blog about black and white roll film.      Before I knew about this class I used to be obsessed with black and white films because my cousin whom I used to be close with in Thailand used to watch this series where they have a lot of clues and references to black and white films needing to be developed. As Aaron Gold from the DRproview mentions...

Can Photographs Change the World?

Image
Photo by: Tyler Piccotti Image source      one of the things that amazed me after finding out about photojournalism is how one image can change the way you see things or give you another perspective of things in life just from one picture.       This picture of this young lady holding a trophy is Coco Gauff, she is the first tennis player since Serena Williams to win a US Open. I think it is mind-blowing because this little girl used to watch Serena Williams play in the US Open as a little girl but now at 19 years old she won the event herself. her dedication and love for tennis made her practice and put her heart and everything into this sport and after all of the efforts she put she won the US Open as a 19-year-old, I might be repeating 19 years old a lot in this paragraph but it is mind-blowing that someone my age just won one of the biggest tennis events. not only it is breaking the world record it also gives motivation to people who also lo...

What Is Photojournalism

Image
A lot of people might wonder what is photojournalism? and how photojournalism impacts us. I never really wondered that question before taking this class, I feel like even though I like art and I do a lot of study for art I have never really looked into photography outside of picture composition and a pond taking Digital Photography last semester I did start my little research.   After picking up photojournalism as one of my classes this semester I did a little research of my own on what is photoounalism. but after doing my research I feel like it depends on the person and it a personal explanation but people have come to terms with what photojournalism is. According to Google's definition," photojournalism is the communication of news through photographs " but I think that photojournalism is more than just photos of news, I feel like photojournalism is the picture of the journey or a piece of history that is in photo forms because it doesn't have to be ab...
