Artist and AI

To start this blog is about my opinions and this can be a sensitive topic for others, I have no intention of hurting or offending anyone from this blog. I want to voice my opinion on art in general and AI.

AI is a topic that a lot of artists are talking about. Not only digital artists but others are concerned about their job in the art fields that involve putting work online, digital artist or photographer is at risk of getting replaced by AI the photo that artist can produce AI can also do the same with their intelligence and the data they have based on the internet. but one thing that I think AI can't do is create its own ideas, I know that AI can generate any picture that you want by typing in the keywords of the picture you want to be and describing it as simple and detailed at the same time to get the picture you want, but all AI is doing is bringing a lot of data of pictures on the same keywords that you want and mixed them together which can be consider creating a new image. I mean the end result you get a new picture right? I feel like what makes an artist special is their style. For example, an artist who draws, they have their own style of how they draw things, the way they choose colors, and the way they come up with the finished result. the same thing can be said about photography, the photographers have their own style on what topic they like to take pictures on, their style of how they take their pictures, and how they edit their pictures. these are all unique characteristic that every artist have to them where no one can recreate it. now think again about AI putting all the pictures with the same keywords together, does that seem like the pictures have a unique style to them? To me, no. These pictures that are created by AI are unique in their own way I can say that, they can be beautiful and creative but the pictures usually don't have the same meaning as a picture that is created by a person. A scenery that is created by an AI and a scenery that is taken by a human can give a different feeling, like how the picture is aligned to the scenery, the time of the day that the photographer chose to take the picture, the adjustment of the camera and what lens the photographer chose. These are all little things that can affect the result of an image, can AI really generate all of that by mixing already existing data?

I feel like what makes us special is the details that we can put into something, like how if we love something we would try to make it as perfect as we can in our own ways. In photography, there are types of photography like Architecture photography, Commercial photography, Documentary photography, Fashion photography, and many more. if you had brought 2 photographers and told them to take the pictures of a commercial, I'm sure that these pictures would come out differently, which is completely fine because these photographers have their own style in which they used to take these pictures. We humans have different creativity, we come up with new ideas we solve problems differently, and we put emotions into things we like which AI can try to recreate but it is going to be different than if a human created it. we humans have different cultures, different values, and different beliefs which make us so unique from each other this is so amazing with the way our brains think and process things the same but differently at the same time

I have been going on and on about how AI can't be compared to or replace humans but I think it is an amazing tool to use, artists sometimes struggle to come up with new ideas and using art that is already been created by another person can inspire them, inspiration design mean copy exactly that the other artist does, it's just taking ideas from another artist and making it into your own style. Sometimes inspiration can come from different pictures or artists. It is like brainstorming ideas before coming up with one and I think that using AI can be very helpful with coming up with ideas for you, it can help you imagine what you are thinking before you want to execute it.

One of these images that is shown in this blog is created by me and one of the images is created by AI. I think that the idea behind the image is the same but we have different styles and how we execute this " photojournalist VS AI " topic, I tried to use the keywords that describe my artwork to make the AI create the same type of image. the website I used to create this AI-generated picture is called Imagine.art. Imagine Art is a website where you can sign in and create AI-generated pictures by choosing text, and draw to create the type of pictures you want, they also have options to choose the different styles your picture can come in, this website was one of the best I can find to generate pictures, it is popular and generate good quality pictures. The keywords I chose to generate this image is "Artist VS AI in cartoon chibi style " I feel like the cartoon chibi style is the closest to the one I chose to create my picture. I feel like it is easier to just type whatever you want into the AI generator and get the picture you want but when I have to create this picture I have to go through multiple ideas before coming up with one below is my sketch of this idea
